About ICTP

Model, Mission & Governance

What is ICTP?

The Industry Clean-Tech Platform (ICTP) is an online market facilitation platform developed under the Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (EELA) Program, implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

ICTP connects industries, clean-tech providers, energy experts, and financiers within a single digital ecosystem.

what is ICTP

Our Model

The ICTP operates as a one-stop-shop and a market facilitation mechanism that bridges the gap between supply and demand for clean technologies in Africa.

Through an integrated approach, the platform enhances accessibility for industries and technology providers while stimulating market demand through targeted incentives and risk mitigation mechanisms.

The platform is built around three core pillars :

Technology & Solutions

Access to validated clean-tech solutions and components across multiple industrial sectors.

Expertise & Advisory

Connection with certified energy experts and consultancies to support implementation and decision-making.

Financing & Investment

Guidance on funding schemes and matchmaking opportunities between industries and investors.

Our Model

Our Mission

By offering an environment where industries from partner countries are connected with the best available clean and efficient technologies and solutions, the ICTP platform aims to:

Our Mission

Bring together a wide range of players working in the
energy and industrial sector.

Foster innovation and green investments.

Help industries make informed decisions about
sustainable energy solutions with the support of certified experts.

Raise awareness of the opportunities offered by
sustainable energy and the importance of
decarbonisation.

ICTP will drive market transformation toward high-performing, affordable, and energy efficient technologies and solutions, fostering sustainable local value chains and increase investments in industrial energy efficiency.

ICTP will support an industrialization process that is not only sustainable but fosters livelihoods and collaboration between countries and regions, supporting the intra-African market for energy efficiency interventions

Governance

Governance Governance

The ICTP is developed within UNIDO’s Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (EELA) Program and implemented in close cooperation with the regional centres of excellence: the East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EACREEE), the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), and the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE). It is supported by technical partners such as the Swedish Energy Agency and Glofin Advisory AB, and funded by the Government of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)

To ensure that the technologies promoted through the ICTP genuinely respond to industrial needs and remain aligned with national and regional strategies for energy and sustainable industrial development, the platform operates under a two-arm governance model:

  • Technical Working Groups (TWGs) bring together key national technical institutions to advise industries on available opportunities, applicable standards, and the services offered by the ICTP.
  • The Advisory Board provides strategic policy guidance—covering standards, national targets, and regulatory frameworks—to ensure that ICTP activities remain coherent with government priorities.

Both bodies are composed of representatives from all relevant stakeholders and partners. They meet regularly to assess the evolving needs of beneficiaries, exchange information on emerging industrial trends and innovative technologies, and guarantee that the ICTP remains current, responsive, and valuable to its users.
